Hey, friends!
Today’s the day — Sonderlust (10th Anniversary Edition) is officially out now via Joyful Noise Recordings.
Revisiting this album has been a surprisingly emotional experience for me. When I made Sonderlust ten years ago, I was coming out of a period of exhaustion — creatively and personally. Touring had taken a toll, and I found myself searching for something more grounded and honest in my music. That search led me away from ornate violin loops and into a world of vintage synths, warmer textures, and a kind of vulnerability I hadn’t allowed myself before.
Listening back to the demos for this reissue, I was struck by how strong the raw ideas still feel. As I’ve said recently:
“Listening back on these rough demos, I realized that my excitement for the raw ideas are unwaveringly strong and that I should always bet the farm on my musical instincts.”
This anniversary edition includes two previously unreleased B-sides — “Comin’ To You” and “Harpsi Chords” — along with demos of all 10 album tracks. I’m especially excited to share “m’Lover (Demo-arigato Version)” with you. There’s something beautifully unfiltered about hearing these early versions — like stepping back into that exact moment in time.
We also revisited the artwork with Ssin Kim, who created the original cover. Seeing how both the music and the visuals have evolved over the past decade has been humbling.
And of course, we’re taking Sonderlust on the road.
I’ll be performing the album in full on the 2026 Sonderlust 10-Year Anniversary Tour, beginning at Treefort Music Fest and Big Ears Festival before heading across the country. I can’t wait to celebrate this record — and all of you who’ve carried it with you over the years.
Thank you for being part of this journey. The feeling of sonder — that we’re all at the center of our own complicated, beautiful universes — still means everything to me.
See you out there,
– K
